A Work In Progress

I've lived in the same house my entire life (34 years, not counting the 4 years away at college). A 3-story brick house in Brooklyn, my grandparents bought it in the mid-1950s. They moved there with my mom and her brothers (from a tenement apartment in Carroll Gardens).

It's been in the family for 3 generations, the walls have witnessed life and death, stories both happy and sad. I'll reveal some of them as I go along. The garden apartment has been home to a handful of people. It was still occupied when I got back from college and finally it's available. I've spent the last 10 months renovating this Brooklyn garden apartment with my own two hands and a little help from friends and neighbors, maybe a contractor or two. With any luck I'll be celebrating Spring 2007 with a housewarming party...
